It was a beautiful day in Bovec, Slovenia and I was able to cram a ton of outdoor adventures into one afternoon. I’ll highlight a few of the best parts here:
The first meal I had today was a four-course lunch, and one that I’m still thinking about several hours later. Everything was freshly prepared to order and the bread was what I imagine an edible version of clouds might taste like. I then set out for a day of nature themed adventure seeking.
One of my favorite things about the countryside are all the makeshift structures, like this lookout, that seem to pop up everywhere. The elements of living in the middle of nowhere must create the perfect environment for innovative creativity. I climbed about halfway up this one to take a few pictures before panicking that I would be spotted and hurried back down.
About an hour down the road I came upon this beautiful view. If you look to the bottom right, you can see a tiny village tucked in at the base of the mountain.
The village was full of gorgeous little homes like these and tons of friendly animals. Including peacocks.
Spotting this on my way through the village made my entire day. Not what I expected to see in such a sleepy little town where most inhabitants don’t even speak English. Today ruled.
